The S-Word

How often have we said something out of habit without really stopping to consider what was said? When my children were young, as a mother, I would try to teach them in the way they should be trained according to how I understood the Bible. A pet-pive of mine was being very cautious of listening to the words that my children would say so if I heard the four letter "s-word" I would instantly correct them.

Another way of correcting my children was to caution them from saying something, then adding the word "but" to their statement. I would let them know that by adding the word "but" they were nullifying what they just said. I would also give them the illustration that God created a very graphic design of our bodies to help us understand the proper place of our words. He placed our mouths on our face where His identity as the Word was to be manifested (out of the heart the mouth speaks), and the waste products of the body were eliminated through the "butt." Therefore, do not bring the "buts" to the face of god's creation that He calls Holy.

With that said I started to look at this word "sword" and realized that it could also be read as the "s-word." That opened my curiosity to what the word "sword" meant in the Bible. By using the Strong's Concordance I found some interesting information about the word "sword."

In Hebrew the word "sword" can be found connected with:

#2717 and #2719: harab or hareb: to parch, desolate, destroy, kill, decay, destroyer, dry up, waste make waste.

#7973: selah: a missile of attack, spear, shoot of growth, branch, put off, conduct, give up, leave, depart, send away or out. Connected with imitation of #7975 and #7974.

In Greek the word "sword" can be found connected with:

#3162: machaira: feminine of a battle, striving, fighting, punishment controversy.

#4501: rhomphaia: foreign origin, a saber, any weapon likened to a cutlass literal or figurative.

#5408: phonos: to slay, murder

In Leviticus 26: 36-37, let's read what God says about the "s-word":

"As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them. They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies."

The fear in their hearts was created by the words of their thoughts, and then released from their mouth. They were creating their own environment of "fear" by living in the "s-words" versus putting on the helmet of salvation and living by the mind of Christ Jesus.

James tells us,

"And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the wheel of birth (the cycle of man's nature), being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna)" (James 3:6 AMP)

"If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind" (James 1:5-6 AMP).

Now this is where things get interesting! In ancient times, to bring unity with the Hebrew and Greek alphabet, letters had to be added to each to give the required number of 27. Each letter of both Hebrew and Greek had a represented numerical valuation, so by adding another letter meant also adding another numeric value.

The Hebrew alphabet consists of 22 letters, which required adding another 5. The numbering of the Hebrew alphabet was established 1-9, 10-90, and 100-400 for the 22 letters.

The 5 additional letters numerical value were 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900. However, the letters themselves were not new letters, but "rebirthed" of the following:

Kaph = 20 (redemption), but also = 500

Mem = 40 (trials, probation, and testing), but also = 600

Nun = 50 (Holy Spirit), but also = 700

Pe = 80 (New birth, new creation, new beginning), but also = 800

Tsaddi = 90 (Divine completeness), but also =900

Whenever a number is incorporated with "100" it includes God's election of Grace and promise.

The Greek alphabet consists of 24 letters requiring an addition of 3 more. In the numeric value of their letters, they were missing the number "6" between 1-9, the number "90" between 10-90, and the number "900" between 100-900. They did not incorporate the already established letters as the Hebrews did, but created 3 new ones for these missing numbers.

Stigma = 6

Koppa = 90

Sampsi = 900

The letters Koppa and Sampsi were two arbitrary symbols, and the letter Stigma was a new sound that was connected with the ancient Egyptian mysteries incorporated with the symbol of Isis and the three letters SSS which would mean 666 in Greek. Webster's Dictionary defines this letter (stigma) as a brand or mark of infamy; a disgrace. It connects this letter to the wounds corresponding to those of Christ crucified.

In ancient times, when the Hebrew and Greek wanted to write a number, they did not use the actual number symbol as we do today such as: 1, 2, 3. Instead, if they wanted to write a number they would use the first letter of the name of the letter that corresponded to that number. For example: the number "1" would be written as "A" symbol for both Hebrew and Greek. The same for the numbers; 2, 3, and 4 as, "B," "G," and "D." However, the number 5 would be a "H" in Hebrew and an "E" in Greek, and the number 6 in Hebrew would be "W," but in Greek an "S."

From this you can see there could be much confusion in translating the Hebrew/Greek understanding of the Scriptures to today's comprehension.

I realize I have given you several "nuggets" to think about, but please stay with me as I am going to try and bring my thoughts together here.

In Matt. 26:50-52 we read, "Jesus said to him, Friend, for what are you here? Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and arrested Him. And behold one of those who were with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his s-word and, striking the body servant of the high priest, cut off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, Put your s-word back into its place, for all who draw the s-word will die by the s-word"(AMP).

I have added hyphens to the word "sword" in these verses to give clarity that the real enemy of God is not a literal weapon we call a sword, but the "words" that slither off of our tongue. The "body servant of the high priest" is anyone that calls themselves a Christian. Jesus called them "friend" and he healed the servant's ability to hear what the Spirit of God was saying.

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is a place and position of taking the WORD and placing an "S" in front of it turning CHRIST into Anti-Christ, number of man. Here is wisdom of the serpent in the tree, judgment begins in the house of God which is YOU. The s-word that is drawn on others will be the s-word that will bring death to yourself.

2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

James 1:18, "Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures."

Psalm 119:43, "And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments."

Ephesians 4:26, "do not give the devil (s-word) a foothold."

John 8:37, "I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you."

Psalm 19:14, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."

Here again is wisdom: I could not find anywhere in Scripture the "sword of truth." I did find many Scriptures that said, "THE WORD OF TRUTH."

This is not an exhaustive study of the word "sword," the Hebrew and Greek alphabet, and Biblical mathematics, but my prayer is that it will cause you to dig deeper into the mysteries of how great the goodness and love of our Heavenly Father today.

Romans 8:38-39, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
